Railsplitters Fall on the Road at Coker

Hartsville, SC – Lincoln Memorial dropped a hard-fought South Atlantic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon, falling 3–1 (22–25, 26–24, 23–25, 18–25) to Coker inside the DeLoach Center. The result moves the Railsplitters to 7–7 overall and 3–2 in league play.

After Coker edged out a tightly contested opening set, LMU bounced back with a gritty second frame. The Railsplitters erased a late deficit and strung together key points down the stretch to earn a 26–24 win and even the match at one set apiece. The Cobras, however, answered with another narrow victory in the third before pulling away late in the fourth to close out the match.

Finley Sparks led the LMU offense with a team-high 12 kills, while Laney Inman and Kaytlin Johnson added 11 apiece. Sarah Robbins was effective at the net with seven kills on a .385 hitting percentage and five total blocks. Setter Carley Raleigh dished out 40 assists to guide the offense and added 20 digs for a double-double.

On the defensive end, libero Lauren Jacob was a standout, anchoring the back row with a match-high 39 digs. Johnson also contributed 18 digs, while Megan Maier and Inman added 10 and nine digs, respectively, as the Railsplitters finished with 101 as a team.

The Railsplitters (7–7, 3–2 SAC) will return to action on Friday, October 3, with a road test at perennial conference power Wingate. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Wingate, North Carolina.
