Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team will have their home opener on Sunday, September 7th as they host the University of North Georgia Nighthawks at 3 pm.
Sunday's midday match up will be the seventh time that the two teams will meet, with the Railsplitters dominating the series with a 5-1-1- record, with UNG's only win coming from their first game in 2011. The most recent match up between Lincoln Memorial and North Georgia was last season in September of 2024, where LMU defeated UNG 2-1 at North Georgia. In their meeting in Harrogate was several years ago in 2018, and Lincoln Memorial also came on top in that contest 4-2.
While the Railsplitters were projected to finish fifth in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Poll, the Nighthawks were picked to finish third in the Peach Belt Conference, earning two first place votes.
Ronan O'Mahony Blondel was named SAC First Team All-Conference while
Gian-Carlo Kama and
David McDougall were selected as players to watch, and UNG players Aram Lara, Maxwell Mitchell, and Jeorge Sandoval were selected for the PBC All-Conference Team.
Lincoln Memorial is looks to get back on track as they are coming from a loss against the University of Indianapolis 1-2, where sophomore
Kei Ishikawa netted in the lone goal for the Railsplitters in the 31st minute with McDougall tallying the assist.
North Georgia is coming off their first match of the season as they drew to #9 Coker 3-3 on September 4th.
