Harrogate, TN – In their final home match of the 2025-26 season, the Lincoln Memorial University Women's Wrestling team defeated Bluefield State 18-16 in a conference match. The win improves the Railsplitters to 3-5 and 1-1 in conference competition.  

With their third win of the season, LMU Women's Wrestling sets a new record for wins in a single-season, besting the old record set during the 2023-24 season. 

The Railsplitters success began in the 131-pound weight class, as Calista Gibson turned a takedown from her opponent into an two-point takedown of her own, as the Railsplitters captured a Fall win from Gibson in 1:31 of wrestling to bring the match score to 10-5.  

LMU would tie the score thanks to a forfeit victory before Shonticia Taft put the Splitters ahead for the remainder of the match, putting up 3 points for LMU in an 11-2 Decision win in the 145-pound division. Early action from Taft, including a three-point takedown of her opponent secured her lead, which was solidified by a two-point takedown with 10 seconds remaining in the final period.  

Shandrea Morgan would net LMU's fourth win of the afternoon, as the freshman turned early action into a takedown of her opponent in the 180-weight class, with Morgan gaining control of the match with 1:20 remaining in the first period, picking up the Fall win with a pin to secure a Railsplitters victory.  

The Railsplitters will look to continue their momentum into the weekend, as LMU is scheduled to participate in the Georgia Open, hosted by Emmanuel University on Saturday. Stay tuned to lmurailsplitters.com for any updates.
