No. 4 Railsplitter Golf Set to Strike at Copperhead Championship

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – The No. 4 Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team will travel south to compete in the Copperhead Championship, hosted by Saint Leo University at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida, Oct. 12-13.

The Railsplitters are coming off a strong showing at the Hurricane Invitational where they competed through challenging, hurricane-like conditions over two days. After a strong opening round marred by delays, the Splitters fell to third place following the final round.

The Railsplitters are familiar with Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, having finished tied for sixth as a team at the 2025 edition of the championship. A difficult third round saw them fall to 22-over par. The only team to shoot under-par was host and now Division I program, University of West Florida, which shot 11-under par.

Measuring 7,209 yards, the Copperhead Course is ranked as the PGA Tour's seventh-toughest course. With numerous water hazards and rolling terrain, the course presents a challenge even for professional golfers. Holes 16-18, known as the 'Snake Pit,' are particularly difficult and can make or break a round.

In addition to navigating the Snake Pit, the Railsplitters will have to face a competitive field looking to claim an early-season victory. Ranked opponents include No. 1 Florida Southern College, No. 2 University of North Georgia, No. 3 Grand Valley State University, No. 5 Lee University, No. 8 Nova Southeastern University, No. 11 Wingate University, No. 14 Saint Leo University, No. 15 Barry University, No. 22 Lynn University, and No. 25 Colorado State University Pueblo.

Lander University, Saint Mary's University (Texas), Rollins College Valdosta State University, Eckerd College and Georgia College and State University are also receiving votes. The University of Tampa rounds out the field.

The Railsplitters will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, as they look to build on their strong performances and continue their fall season.
