Mars Hill, NC – Lincoln Memorial women's soccer's match against the Mars Hill Lions ends in a 0-0 draw Friday evening.
The Lions came out more offensive in the first five minutes with Mars Hill taking the lone shot of the opening minutes. After that it transitioned to the Railsplitters, with
Elizabeth Butler,
Lieve Schiphof, and
Grace Havard, taking shots for LMU throughout the next 20 minutes.
Lincoln Memorial continued with their offensive pressure, as they took four more shots before the end of the half, but were unable to get the ball in the back of the net, leaving the score 0-0 at halftime.
MHU started the second just like they did in the first, as they came out taking four shots and getting two corner kicks in the first ten minutes.
Ally Bevins started out the scoring for Lincoln Memorial with a shot in the 60
th minute, followed by
Camden Prosser in the 66
th minute.
For the next 14 minutes, possession shifted from one side of the field to the other, with the next shot by either team coming from Schiphof in the 80
th minute.
The Lions had a near opportunity in the 85
th minute, but could not capitalize, ending the match in a 0-0 draw.
Schiphof led the team with three shots, followed by
Jade Brown with two. Goalkeeper
Emma Cooke played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial took 12 shots, with seven on goal, and had three saves and seven corner kicks.
With the draw, Lincoln Memorial moves to 3-3-4 overall and Mars Hill moves to 3-4-3 overall.
The team will have a few days off as they will continue conference play on Wednesday, October 7
th as they host Emory & Henry at 5:00 pm.
