Harrogate, TN – It was a clean sweep for the Lincoln Memorial University Men's Tennis team, as the Railsplitters took all nine matches from Johnson University to win 7-0, advancing the Splitters to 3-0 on the season.  

In the doubles pairings, the Railsplitters took the point and all three matches, with the first pairing of Hugo Ruiz Espejo and Alexandru Rares Giurea jumping out to a 4-0 lead before finishing off their opponents 6-3. 

The second pairing proved to be the toughest battle of the night, as Victor Bourguignon and Jakub Hrasek spent the early match trading points with their opponents, as the match moved from 2-2 to 4-4 in rapid succession. After falling behind 5-4, Bourguignon and Hrasek fought back to even the set at 5-5, before facing a match point deficit down 5-6.  

Bourguignon and Hrasek fought back to even the set at 6-6, and finished with the win off of their opponents serve to take the 7-6 win and securing the doubles point for LMU. The Railsplitters broke the brooms out in the final pair, as reigning conference Player of the Week Ethan Hirons and Radu Florea won the third pairing with a clean 6-0 victory.  

In singles play, the Railsplitters continued their domination by taking all six matches from the Royals. In singles play, Giurea won in the first singles pairing 6-1 and 6-3, before Mathias Roy and Hrasek dropped just one point each in their sweep.  

In the fourth pairing, Bourguignon dropped just three points total across his two sets to claim a 6-1, 6-2 win. Patricio Garcia would do the same, winning 6-0 and 6-3 in the fifth slot.  

Ruiz Espejo ended the 7-0 win for the Railsplitters, taking the first set 6-1 before finishing the 6-0 clean sweep of Johnson to give Lincoln Memorial the win over the Royals. 

The Railsplitters will face Young Harris tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. in the indoor tennis facility.
