Northridge, CA – Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball hits the road this week for a ranked showdown in California, opening a three-match West Coast swing with a matchup at No. 17 CSUN on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 10 p.m. (ET) in Northridge, California.
The Railsplitters hold steady in the AVCA national rankings this week, coming in at No. 19 in the Feb. 16 National Collegiate MVB Poll. LMU has been one of the nation's most efficient attacks early in the year, hitting .306 as a team while averaging 12.1 kills per set. The Railsplitters have also been strong at the service line with 39 aces, and at the net with 2.0 blocks per set.
Individually, Johan Negron leads LMU with 94 kills (3.03/set), while Axel van Baars has added 80 kills and a team-best 10 aces. George Stevens (68 kills) has been another steady option on the pins, and Relja Milosavljevic has been efficient in the middle with 46 kills while hitting .457. Setter Roman Mahlerwein has directed the offense with 204 assists (10.20/set), and defensively LMU is paced by Zachary Zian (65 digs) and van Baars (51 digs). At the net, Oisin Walsh has been a key presence with 26 total blocks (5 solo, 21 assists).
CSUN enters the week 7-4 and ranked No. 17 in the latest poll. The Matadors have been one of the most productive offenses in the country, hitting .350 as a team and averaging 12.7 kills per set, led by Jalen Phillips (108 kills) and Jordan Lucas (84 kills). CSUN's schedule has been tested recently with matches against several top programs, including UCLA, USC and Pepperdine.
Wednesday's contest will be the second all-time meeting between the programs. The only previous matchup came on Jan. 7, 2023, when CSUN earned a 3-0 win at a neutral site in Santa Barbara.
