HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial softball dropped a pair of low-scoring games to King (Tenn.) on Tuesday, falling 2-0 in game one before a 3-0 setback in the nightcap.
King scored both of its runs in the first inning of the opener and made the early lead stand the rest of the way. Lincoln Memorial put seven hits on the board but was unable to push a run across. Reese Vivrette led the Railsplitters at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance, while Anna Kate Reichter and Hanna Bogoski added hits as well. In the circle, Brooke Strickland started the game and Katie Fultz provided 7.0 innings of relief, allowing five hits and striking out three.
In game two, King plated single runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings and kept LMU off the scoreboard behind a complete-game effort. Lincoln Memorial managed three hits in the nightcap, with singles from Vivrette, Kristin Griffin and Bogoski. Jasmine Kaylor went the distance for the Railsplitters, working 7.0 innings.
Lincoln Memorial returns to the road this weekend with a doubleheader at Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, Feb. 21 in Central, S.C. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m., with game two scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
