Women’s Golf Captures Title at LR/Dunes West Intercollegiate

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – The Lincoln Memorial University women's golf team broke through in a big way this week, storming to the team title at the LR/Dunes West Women's Intercollegiate (Feb. 23–24) at Dunes West Golf Club to secure its first tournament championship of the season.

Ranked No. 25 nationally, the Railsplitters delivered their most complete performance of the year, finishing nine strokes clear of the field with a three-round total of 915 (+51) after carding rounds of 311-307-297. LMU saved its best for last, firing a final-round 297 (+9) to separate from a loaded leaderboard that included No. 6 North Georgia (924, +60) and No. 18 Erskine (928, +64).

The championship effort was powered by an outstanding one-two punch at the top of the individual standings. Joy Aspetaki put together a terrific week to finish second overall at 220 (+4) with rounds of 75-71-74, giving LMU a steady presence near the top from start to finish. Right beside her, Millie Russell completed a huge tournament of her own, placing fourth overall at 224 (+8) after posting rounds of 74-77-73. With two Railsplitters finishing inside the top four, LMU set the tone early and never let it go.

The Railsplitters received key contributions throughout the lineup. Dilyara Bulambayeva turned in a solid performance, finishing tied for 24th at 236 (+20) with rounds of 80–79–77. Reese Rexroat added a steady final-round 73 to finish tied for 31st at 238 (+22), while Ruby McLellan carded 244 (+28) to round out the team score.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial paired strong scoring with disciplined golf across the course. The Railsplitters led the tournament with 157 total pars, consistently keeping big numbers off the card, and matched the tournament's best birdie total with 24. LMU also stood out on the short holes, ranking first in par-3 scoring for the event, an important edge in a tightly contested field.

The win marks a major milestone for the Railsplitters, turning a strong start to the spring into a statement victory against ranked competition and proving the team's national ranking is well-earned.

Lincoln Memorial returns to action March 9–10 at the Jerry Surratt Memorial in Monroe, N.C., hosted at Stonebridge Golf Club.
