Men's and women's track and field slated for South Atlantic Conference Championships

Harrogate, TN -- Lincoln Memorial track and field teams are set to travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this weekend for the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships. The two-day event will take place at the JDL Fast Track on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1. Both the men's and women's squads enter the postseason with momentum after showcasing strong depth and multiple record-breaking performances throughout the winter season. The Railsplitters will look to capitalize on their recent progress as they face a highly competitive field of conference rivals.

Head coach Jeff Kavalunas believes his athletes are prepared for the challenge of competing in one of the premier conferences in Division II. "The teams are excited to head to the SAC Championships and see what they can do", said Kavalunas. "Both squads are coming off strong performances at the last two competitions, giving everyone some confidence going into this weekend. The SAC is very tough competition, one of the strongest conferences in the country, but if the men and women can go into it, performing as they have been, we will be very successful".

The championship meet serves as a final opportunity for several athletes to improve their standing on the national performance list ahead of the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. Action at the JDL Fast Track will feature a full slate of track and field events starting Saturday morning and concluding with the crowning of the conference champions on Sunday afternoon.
