Track and field slated for final meet of regular season

Harrogate, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial men's and women's track and field teams are set to travel to Danville, Kentucky, this week to compete in the Centre College Twilight meet hosted by Centre College. This upcoming competition marks the final meet of the regular season for the Railsplitters as they look to maintain their momentum heading into the conference championships. The teams arrive in Kentucky following an exceptionally successful outing at the Lee University Fast Break Invitational where several athletes achieved top tier results on a national scale.

During the previous meet at Lee University, Luis Boerkey, Theresa Brosthaus, and Vincent Quilici distinguished themselves by delivering NCAA National Championship provisional qualifying performances. Boerkey and Brosthaus earned their marks in the men's and women's 800m runs respectively, while Quilici secured his qualifying standard in the mens 400m dash. These performances highlight the high level of competition the Railsplitters are maintaining as they reach the peak of their outdoor schedule.

In addition to the national qualifying marks, Lincoln Memorial athletes established five new school records during their recent trip to Lee University. The distance hurdles saw significant movement in the record books as Greta Chizzali set a new program standard in the women's steeplechase and Jaxson Branham achieved a new mark in the mens steeplechase. The middle distance and sprint groups also saw records fall with Quilici resetting the school mark in the 400m, while Brosthaus and Boerkey each claimed new school records in their respective 800m events.

The record breaking performances extended to the field events where Jackson Clonce delivered a standout performance in the shot put. Clonce successfully set a new school record in the event, further showcasing the depth and versatility of the current roster across multiple disciplines. As the teams prepare for the Centre College Twilight meet, they aim to build upon these historic achievements and finalize their preparations for the upcoming championship season.
