HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial softball split its Saturday slate at Abe's Invitational at Dorothy Neely Softball Complex, dropping an 8-5 decision to Thomas More in the opener before responding with an exciting 7-6 win over Bloomsburg in the nightcap.
In game one, LMU grabbed the early momentum and led 5-3 through four innings after scoring two runs in the first, one in the second, and two more in the fourth. Hannah McMeen paced the offense with a big day, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Hanna Bogoski finished 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Cassidy Hack scored twice and added an extra-base hit, and Gracie Palmer delivered a key swing with a two-RBI single. Thomas More rallied late, scoring two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to pull ahead. Brooke Strickland struck out three over 4.0 innings in her start, and Jasmine Kaylor worked the final 3.0 innings in relief.
Lincoln Memorial bounced right back in game two with a comeback win over Bloomsburg, using a three-run third inning and a four-run fourth to build a 7-3 advantage. Bloomsburg made it a one-run game with a late push, but the Railsplitters closed it out to secure the 7-6 victory. Kristin Griffin delivered the biggest swing of the night with a three-run home run, and Reese Vivrette added a huge performance, going 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI, and two walks. Gracie Palmer drove in two more with a double and scored twice, and Katie Fultz went the distance in the circle, striking out four and battling through the final innings to lock down the win.
Lincoln Memorial continues Abe's Invitational play on Sunday, beginning with Bloomsburg vs. Thomas More at 10:00 a.m. before the Railsplitters face Bloomsburg at 12:30 p.m. and close the weekend against Thomas More at 3:00 p.m. Live stats and video links are available on the tournament schedule.
