Ethan Hirons Earns South Atlantic Conference Tennis Player of the Week Award

Rock Hill, S.C. - After helping lead the Railsplitters to two dominate wins in the season opener, Ethan Hirons has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the inaugural week of the 2026 spring season.

Hirons went a perfect 4-0 in the Railsplitters two wins on Sunday, taking both matchups in doubles play before going a perfect 2-0 in singles draws.

In the opening match vs West Virginia Wesleyan, Hirons and Radu Florea earned a clean 6-0 win in the third doubles pairing of the day. Hirons then battled in the number two singles draw, taking the first set to a match point where he drew out a 6-5 win before facing another back-and-forth match in set two, where he earned the 6-4 win, securing the point for the Railsplitters in the 5-2 win.

In the afternoon's match against King, Hirons and Florea again won out of the third doubles position, this time taking a 6-1 victory to lock up the doubles point for LMU. Out of the first singles draw this time, Hirons walked away with two 6-2 victories for a clean sweep of the Tornado, paving the way for a 6-1 Railsplitters victory and a perfect 2-0 start to the season.
