Women's Basketball's Historic Season Comes To An End In NCAA Regional Semifinals

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial's historic season comes to an end in the NCAA Regional Semifinals against Carson-Newman 55-63. 

The first quarter was a battle as C-N took the lead for the first five minutes with a 9-0 run, but the Lady Railsplitters ended the quarter on a positive note with a 10-0 win to take the 16-14 lead going into the second quarter. Lexi Patty and Kamil Collier led the quarter with five points each.

Carson-Newman had the lead for the entirety of the quarter, despite Lincoln Memorial scoring three back-to-back threes late in the quarter. The Eagles took the 32-28 advantage going into halftime.

The third quarter Carson-Newman pushed the momentum, as they added 21 points compared to LMU's 13, with Collier contributing team-leading six of those points. The Eagles would take the lead going into the final frame 41-53.

The Lady Railsplitters would fight to the very end, with Lincoln Memorial posting 14 points and C-N adding 16, but Carson-Newman takes the victory 55-63.

Collier would lead the team in points with 20 points and seven rebounds, followed by Keiara Anderson with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Lexi Patty would lead the team on the boards with ten rebounds along with eight points. Alexa Smiddy would finish the night with seven points, Asia Barr with four, and Maleiya Hill with three. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 39.2% from the field, 29.2% from the three, and 8/14 from the charity stripe. 

LMU scored 26 points in the paint, six second chance points, three bench points, and four points off of C-N turnovers. 

Your #15 Lady Railsplitters end their historic season in the NCAA Regional Semifinals with a 26-5 overall record, while also finishing the regular season with an undefeated record, being nationally ranked for the majority of the season, and hosting the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament for the first time in program history as the #1 seed.
