Harrogate, TN – The perfect home stand continued for Lincoln Memorial Women's Tennis, as the Railsplitters took a 4-0 sweep from Emory & Henry on Wednesday, improving to 8-3 and 3-2 in the South Atlantic Conference.
The Splitters picked up the doubles point thanks to their top pairing of Carla Ramonet and Lucie Palud, who dropped just two points to the Wasps premier pair, winning the first grouping 6-2. The Splitters would also claim a forfeit win thanks to Reagan Clay-Booth and Davanee Loayza.
Loayza would put the Splitters one win away from victory in singles play, as after Emory & Henry forfeited the sixth position, Loayza took the fifth position by dropping just one point overall. The freshman took her first collegiate win in her first match, going 6-1 in the first set and sweeping the second set with a clean 6-0 win.
Laura Nastrini sealed the win for Lincoln Memorial, taking the straight sets win with a 6-2 win in the first and a clean 6-0 win in the second set, earning her second win of the season.
The Railsplitters will welcome ninth-ranked Catawba on Saturday to Harrogate, with play starting at 1:30 p.m.
