Cleveland, TN – In their final match before their spring trip, the Lincoln Memorial Women's Tennis team fell on the road to Lee, as the Flames defeated the Railsplitters 5-2.
The non-conference loss drops the Railsplitters to 9-5 this season.
The Railsplitters would pick up one win in doubles play, as the third pairing of Mar Garcia Bucosa and Alexandra Ortiz netted their fifth win together this season, breaking out the brooms to sweep the Flames third grouping in a 6-0 final.
In singles competition, Adriana Pellizzari picked up a win in the fourth draw, as Pellizzari was able to dominate her first set to a tune of 6-1 after starting with a 2-1 lead on her opponent. The second set started closer than the first, as Pellizzari started facing a 2-4 deficit in the set. Pellizzari translated that start into a rally, scoring four unanswered points to defeat her opponent 6-4 in the second set, taking a straight set sweep.
LMU would pick up another point from the sixth singles position, as Laura Nastrini secured a close two sets to none win. The first set went the distance for Nastrini, who had to fend off a furious comeback to take the 7-6 win in the first set. The second set started with Nastrini down 1-3, but this time she was able to complete the comeback, taking the 6-4 win and securing a straight sets sweep.
The Railsplitters begin their spring break trip on Saturday, facing Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference matchup, going to Newberry at 1:30.
