Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial Women's Tennis team earned their first conference win of the season, defeating Coker University at home 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Railsplitters to 5-2 and 1-1 in the conference.
The Railsplitters started their day by taking the two finished doubles matches, dropping just one point in the two wins. Out of the second doubles match, Adriana Pellizzari and Natalia Reimer combined to start 5-0 against the Cobras second pairing, coming away with the 6-1 win before LMU's third doubles pair of Alexandra Ortiz and Mar Garcia Bucosa swept Coker to secure the doubles point for the Splitters.
LMU got the first win in singles play out of the fourth position, as Pellizzari took a straight sets sweep from her opponent. Pellizzari started with a 6-1 win in the first set, and ran away with the second set after five consecutive points to take the set 6-2 and earning the win.
Rosalie Carrier-Dulac gave the Splitters their third point of the day from the third singles draw, turning a 2-2 tie in the first set into a 6-2 win and holding onto a lead throughout the second set to finish a 6-4 win in the second set, sweeping the Cobras.
Reimer would secure the win for Lincoln Memorial in the second singles pool. Reimer opened the first set with a 5-0 lead and eventually ran away with the 6-1 win, and after dropping the second set, Reimer swept the final set 6-0 to secure the three-set win and the fourth point for LMU.
The win marks the Railsplitters fifth at home this season, which the Splitters will look to improve upon on Tuesday as LMU hosts Tusculum at 1:30 for a conference matchup.
