Men's Soccer Begins Season With Loss To PBA

West Palm Beach, FL – Lincoln Memorial men's soccer falls to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish Thursday evening 2-0.

The first ten minutes of the match were quiet as Palm Beach Atlantic only recorded one shot, which landed on frame for Daniel Benedek Miklosi's first save of the game. After eight more minutes go by, the first goal of the match was scored by the Sailfish in the 18th minute, scored by Ole Lichter.

Throughout the remainder of the half, Lincoln Memorial continued to get tested defensively, but the score remained at 1-0 at halftime with Palm Beach Atlantic in the lead.

Scoring began quickly in the second half as PBA extended their lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute by Simon Buechte.

Lincoln Memorial took their first shot of the game in the 53rd minute, shot by Colin Clark, off frame. Possession kept shifting between the two teams throughout the next 20 minutes, with LMU increasing their offensive opportunities, including back-to-back shots by Antonio Talavera, one on frame and one off.

With the last 20 minutes quiet, the Railsplitters fall to the Sailfish 0-2.

Talavera led the team with three shots, and Daniel Benedek Miklosi played all 90 minutes in goal, earning five saves.

The Railsplitters were outshot 14-8 and fell in corner kicks 6-4, but topped PBA in saves (6-1)
With the loss, Lincoln Memorial falls to 0-1 on the season.

The Railsplitters will stay in the Sunshine State as they face Nova Southeastern on Sunday, August 30th in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with the match set to begin at 7:00 pm.
