Nashville, TN- Lincoln Memorial women's soccer draws their first game of the regular season with the Trevecca Trojans Thursday evening.
The Railsplitters started out the match strong, as their first two shots of the game resulted in goals, beginning with
Riley Miller scoring in the fourth minute off a cross from
Camden Prosser. The offensive pressure continued in the 11
th minute with Lincoln Memorial's second goal, as Prosser crossed the ball over the top of the 18-yard line to
Norah Alcorn for her first collegiate goal.
The Trojans responded minutes later in the 16
th minute by Anna Farrell to make the score 1-2 with Lincoln Memorial remaining in the lead.
Trevecca slightly outshot LMU throughout the remainder of the half with five shots compared to two, but the score remained at 1-2 with a Railsplitter lead at halftime.
The second half started out slowly but quickly picked up the pace as LMU took three shots, with two on frame, within the first 15 minutes of the half. Possession was back-and-forth with goalkeepers for both teams being tested, with
Emma Cooke's first save of the second half was in the 60
th minute.
With nothing much happening throughout the next 20 minutes, Trevecca tied up the match in the 82
nd minute with Anna Allen.
As the last eight minutes passed scoreless, the match ends with a 2-2 draw with Trevecca Nazarene.
Miller and Alcorn each added one goal for LMU, while Prosser recorded both assists on the match. The two goal scorers led in both shots and shots on goal with two each. Goalkeeper
Emma Cooke played all 90 minutes and registered six saves on the evening.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial was outshot by Trevecca 12-8, 8-6 on frame, but topped the Trojans in corner kicks (4-0) and saves (6-4).
With the tie, the Railsplitters begin the season 0-0-1 overall.
Lincoln Memorial has a quick turnaround, as they return home on Saturday, August 29
th for their home opener against Columbus State at LMU Lacrosse Complex, with kick off slated for 12:00 pm.
