Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University Men's Tennis team opened the Fall season by hosting the 2026 LMU Hidden Duals on Friday, competing against competition from the University of the Cumberlands in doubles play and UVA Wise in singles matches.
In Doubles play, the Railsplitters earned five wins over Patriots competition. In the opening round, the pairing of Radu Florea and Danilo Gruic earned their first of two wins on the day, taking home a 6-1 victory. Alexis Morin and Patricio Garcia earned the second Splitters win with another LMU 6-1 victory over Cumberlands.
In the second round, LMU would earn a victory thanks to Malcolm Bergelin and Jakub Hrášek, who would rally to a 6-4 win. The third round would see LMU take home another two victories, as the pair of Florea and Gruic secured a 7-5 win while Bergelin and Hrasek would finish the day 2-1 thanks to a 6-2 win to end doubles competition.
Moving to singles play, the Railsplitters would go 8-2 against UVA Wise to start the fall season. Florea earned LMU their first singles win of the fall, taking two-sets 6-1, 7-5 win over his opponent. Gruic, Lucas Corradi, Bergelin, and Morin would each earn straight-set wins for the Splitters alongside VIC, as the reigning All-South Atlantic Conference honoree in doubles play took a 6-2 and 6-1 win in his two sets.
Hrasek would battle in his singles match, falling in the first set 6-7 (5) before taking a 6-0 sheet into the final set of play, where Hrasek pulled away with a 1-0 (7) win. Ciprian Florincas would join Hrasek as the two Splitters to win in three singles sets.
LMU will return to the courts next weekend in the final matches of the LMU Hidden Duals.
