Cleveland, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday to travel to Cleveland, Tennessee, looking to make a statement against the Lee Flames. In the opening set, the hosts quickly took control of the tempo, jumping out to an early advantage behind the service line and sharp net play. Despite service aces and kills from Lincoln Memorial contributors like Lauren Pickett, Finley Sparks, and Kaytlin Johnson trying to shift the momentum, the Flames capitalized on visiting errors and aggressive finishes from their rotation to capture the first frame comfortably at 25-11.
Looking to bounce back, the Railsplitters completely flipped the script in the second set, turning the match into a high-intensity back-and-forth battle. Lincoln Memorial leaned heavily on the offensive production of Milyn Minor and Jazmine Starks, who anchored crucial kills and defensive blocks alongside setting contributions from Lauren Jacob and Pickett to build a mid-set lead. However, the Flames clawed their way back into contention late in the frame. Trading point for point down the stretch, both squads fought through intense pressure before the Flames narrowly edged out a 26-24 decision to take a two-set advantage.
Carrying that decisive momentum into the third set, the Flames looked to close out the evening while Lincoln Memorial fought desperately to extend the match. The Railsplitters mounted valiant scoring runs with contributions from Laney Inman and Georgia Dobson at the net, but the hosts answered with disciplined defensive setups and efficient distribution to keep the visitors at bay. Ultimately, the Flames secured the final frame 25-21, completing the straight-sets sweep on their home floor.
