Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial men's soccer shuts out the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears 5-0, the largest margin of victory in program history against the Bears and the most goals scored in a game since 2023!
The Bears started out strong, but the Railsplitters quickly responded with their first goal of the match as
Lasse Kidde Amstrup heads the ball off a throw into
Filipe Ribeiro, who scores in the 10
th minute.
Possession was back and forth as neither team took any shots for the next 26 minutes. In the 36
th minute,
Enrique Martin passed the ball over the back line to
Elay Chartouni, who chipped it over the Bear goalkeeper to extend the lead going into halftime 2-0.
L-R came out of halftime fighting, as they took three shots in the first five minutes of the second half. The strong push from the Bears did not stop the Railsplitters, as
David McDougall heads the ball off a corner kick from
Emil Tronstad Juliebo in the 62
nd minute to give LMU the 3-0 lead.
About 11 minutes later in the 73
rd minute,
Elay Chartouni recorded his first career brace as he hit the top left corner of the goal, with the assist coming from
Elijah Breidel.
Lincoln Memorial did not stop there, as Damien Saccento crossed the ball to
Otis Hearn in the 78
th minute, who put the ball in the back of the net for his first career goal, making the score 5-0.
As LMU was able to keep the ball out of Lenoir-Rhyne's offensive third for the remainder of the match, the Railsplitters shut out the Bears 5-0.
There were four different Raisplitters with goals, as Chartouni led the way with two goals, and Hearn, McDougall, and Ribeiro, each had one goal each. Kidde Amstrup, Martin, Saccento, Tronstad Juliebo, and Breidel each added an assist.
Daniel Benedek Miklosi played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial took 14 shots, with nine being on goal, and registered six saves and four corner kicks.
With the win, LMU improves to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Lenoir-Rhyne drops to 0-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
The Railsplitters will be on the road this weekend as they travel to Newberry, SC to face the Newberry Wolves on Saturday, September 19
th at 4:30 pm.
