Harrogate, TN – (RV) Lincoln Memorial men's soccer draws to #24 the Lynn University Fighting Knights Tuesday evening 1-1.
Both teams battled for scoring chances throughout the first 30 minutes, but Lynn slightly outshot the Railsplitters 2-3.
In the 30
th minute, the Fighting Knights took the lead, scored by Luan Barroso Rennstich.
Lynn took control for the remainder of the half, giving them a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Lincoln Memorial increased the momentum in the second half, as
Enrique Martin scored o a bicycle kick off a cross from
Pau Aleixandre in the 59
th minute to tie up the match.
The team continued their offensive push, as they outshot Lynn 8-3 for the next 30 minutes, but could not capitalize on the opportunities as they ended the match with a 1-1 draw.
Martin scored the lone goal for the Railsplitters, with Aleixandre earning the assist.
Filipe Ribeiro led the team with three shots, while Martin finished with team-leading two shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Daniel Benedek Miklosi played 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial came out on top in shots (13-12), and saves (6-4), but was topped in shots on goal (7-5).
With the draw, Lincoln Memorial moves to 2-1-1 overall and Lynn moves to 1-0-3 overall.
The team will have a week off as their next match will be on Wednesday, September 16
th at home against Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:00 pm.
