Ben Thompson brings a tremendous amount of experience to his first season as an assistant coach for the Lincoln Memorial men's basketball program.
A 2006 graduate of Virginia Tech, Thompson most recently served as an assistant coach at Virginia Military Institute, where he helped the Keydets lead the Division I Southern Conference in scoring with 80.5 points per game.
Prior to his short stint at VMI, Thompson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at UNC Pembroke, a span during which the Braves recorded back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in more than 20 years.
Thompson made numerous stops before his tenure at UNC Pembroke. He spent the 2010-11 season as a video coordinator and assistant to the head coach at his alma mater, Virginia Tech. The season before that, he was an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Saint Leo. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech from 2006-08.
