Tyler Slick enters his third season as full-time assistant coach at Lincoln Memorial coming off a 2022-23 season where he helped lead the Railsplitters to a 30-5 record and an appearance in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Lincoln Memorial won the South Atlantic Conference regular season and NCAA Southeast Regional titles on its way to its fourth Elite Eight berth in program history.
 
Lincoln Memorial University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jeremiah Samarrippas selected Slick as assistant coach, the athletic department announced Monday, May 31, 2021. The 2021-22 season saw Slick help lead the Railsplitters to a South Atlantic Conference regular season championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Prior to arriving in Harrogate from the University of Memphis, Slick spent six seasons coaching at nearly all levels of college basketball including experience at NCAA Division I, II, III, and junior college institutions. He, also, owns his personal basketball skills training and development coaching business, TylerSlick.com.
 
Serving as a graduate assistant coach at Memphis during the Tigers’ 2021 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship run, Slick has developed and mentored 15 Division I and Division II players through his skills training business. Throughout his collegiate and high school coaching stops, Slick has been a part of a Division II regional championship game, Minnesota state title and NJCAA region championship appearance.
 
Starting at Memphis in August of 2020, Slick aided the Tigers to their second NIT title in program history and a 20-win season. With Slick’s primary duties at Memphis including opponent scouting reports, film breakdown, academic monitoring and skill development, the Tigers went 20-8 and 11-4 in American Athletic Conference play.
 
Prior to his time in the Bluff City, Slick served as an assistant coach at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, for two seasons. While at NDSCS the Wildcats posted an impressive 51-12 record, which included back-to-back 25-win campaigns, and reached the 2019 NJCAA Division I Region XIII championship game. Spending the 2017-18 basketball season as an assistant coach at fellow NCAA Division II member Minnesota State University, Mankato, Slick helped the Mavericks to a 24-10 overall record and a 16-6 mark in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. With Slick in charge of opponent scouting, recruiting, film study, academic monitoring and skill development, Minnesota State Mankato finished among the final 16 teams in the national tournament as the Mavericks reached the 2018 Division II Men’s Basketball Central Regional Championship title game.
 
Before his time at Minnesota State Mankato, Slick coached at Minneapolis North High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the 2016-17 academic year. With Slick on staff the Polars were outstanding, posting a 32-2 record en route to the 2017 Class A state championship. Beginning his coaching career at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton High School in Janesville, Minnesota, Slick spent two seasons (2014-16) as an assistant at NCAA Division III Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota.
 
In the summer months, Slick has spent time coaching the Minnesota Rise AAU program’s 17U and 16U teams and has worked with Ganon Baker and his NBA pre-draft workouts in Florida. He has also served as director of basketball operations for Ganon Baker Basketball.
 
Highly involved with basketball coaching career development, Slick is a member, content manager and web designer for Rising Coaches, a membership-based community for coaches to connect, develop and facilitate career advancement. He has broken down online clinics into social media sound bites for Rising Coaches, along with updating and designing within the organization’s website.
 
Slick received his bachelor’s degree in sport management and marketing from Minnesota State Mankato in 2016 before attaining a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Minnesota in December of 2017.
 
Slick currently resides in Harrogate.
