Donny Grigsby enters his second year as Lincoln Memorial University's director of athletics in 2022-23 after spending the previous 11 seasons overseeing all sports medicine services and the athletic drug testing program with a clinical assignment for men's basketball. He earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training from LMU in 1991 and a master’s degree in education from LMU in 1994.
 
Grigsby has provided services in a variety of settings as an athletic trainer. His athletic training career began as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for LMU and Thomas Walker High School in nearby Ewing, Virginia. Following his graduate study, Grigsby worked in the clinical setting at HealthSouth Rehabilitation and provided outreach athletic training services for Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic in Knoxville, Tennessee, in the mid-to-late 90’s. He was also an intern for U.S. Olympic athletes during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Prior to his return to LMU, Grigsby was co-owner of Tri-State Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Clinics where he implemented and coordinated sports medicine services. 
 
A local native of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Grigsby was inducted into the Middlesboro High School All-Sports Hall of Fame in October 2016. 
 
He and his wife, Jessica, reside in Middlesboro where Jessica is a second grade teacher at Yellow Creek Elementary School. They have two daughters, Taylor and Brooklyn, and a son, Cayden.
