Carroll Kennedy was selected as the second head coach in LMU men's lacrosse program history in June 2018 after an exhaustive national search. He enters his third season at the helm of the program.Â
Kennedy's team went 2-4 (0-1 SAC) in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season. Under his tutelage, Robert Tucker was named a Scholar All-American by the USILA, the first such honor in program history. In 2019, Kennedy's team went 4-10 (2-6 SAC) and he helped Tucker and Ian Cook to all-conference honors.Â
Â
Kennedy spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Limestone. During his five-season stint in Gaffney, S.C., the Saints authored arguably the most prolific stretch of dominance in the history of NCAA Division II men's lacrosse. Over that span, Limestone captured three national titles in 2017, 2015 and 2014, made four straight trips to the national championship from 2014-17, and compiled a remarkable 92-12 record. That includes three consecutive 20-win seasons from 2015-17.Â
Â
Following Limestone's second national title in 2015, Kennedy was named the 2015 USILA Assistant Coach of the Year after helping guide the Saints to a 20-1 overall record.
Â

"Having been an integral part of three NCAA Division II national championships is no small feat, and we know he will bring a championship pedigree to LMU," Green added. "We very much look forward to watching the men's lacrosse program reach new heights under his leadership."
Â
Kennedy was responsible for one of the best defensive units in the nation while at Limestone, as the Saints finished in the top five in goals per game allowed in both 2015 (7.48) and 2016 (7.36). He coached five defensive players that combined for 10 All-American accolades, including only the third four-time All-American in program history, Tyler Gaulton.Â
Â
Kennedy also coached the team's face-off specialists at Limestone, which ranked among the best in the nation during all five of his years in Gaffney. In that capacity, he was a mentor for two-time USILA National Player of the Year and four-time All-American face-off man Kevin Reisman.Â
Â
"I would like to thank Vice President for enrollment, athletics and public relations Dr. Jody Goins and Athletics Director Matthew Green for trusting me with the responsibility of leading their men's lacrosse program," Kennedy said. "I am very excited to be the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at Lincoln Memorial University. While visiting campus and meeting with the committee, I knew right away I wanted to be a part of LMU and this athletic department. I am looking forward to working with these young men as we add to an already great foundation."
Â

Prior to Limestone, Kennedy served a one-year stint at his alma mater, Adelphi University, where he helped lead the team to a 14-3 overall record, a No. 4 national ranking and an appearance in the NCAA Division II national semifinals during the 2013 campaign. That season, the Panthers ranked first in the country in face-off winning percentage and fourth in scoring defense.Â
Â
All told, Kennedy has mentored 28 All-Americans, seven conference players of the year and four Scholar All-Americans during his coaching career. That includes the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Specialist of the Year, the 2016 and 2017 Outstanding Midfielder award recipient and the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Division II National Player of the Year. Â
Â
Before making the leap to college coaching, Kennedy spent time as an assistant coach at Commack High School in Commack, N.Y., where he primarily focused on the defensive players, the creation of game plans, scouting and evaluating opponents. He also worked with the BreakOut Goaltending Group in Long Island, N.Y., and coached the Long Island Pride Lacrosse youth team as well.Â
Â
Kennedy had a stellar collegiate career, which began with a two-year stop at Monroe Community College from 2007-08. While there, he earned All-Region second team honors before transferring to national powerhouse Adelphi, which has won seven NCAA Division II national titles in program history. He combined to make 26 career appearances in his two seasons at Adelphi and helped lead the Panthers to an NCAA tournament appearance as a senior in 2010.Â
Â
Kennedy graduated from Adelphi with a bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in business in 2010. In 2013, he added a master's degree in physical education from Adelphi.Â
