Kuhn

Ryan Kuhn

Kuhn came to LMU in the fall of 2013 to help start both the men's and women's lacrosse programs. In that time he not only got both programs up and running by the 2015 season but he has made the men's lacrosse team a competitor for the South Atlantic Conference crown in only two seasons.

Kuhn arrived in Harrogate in November, 2013 following a one-year stint at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, where he served as the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach in its first year in the NCAA Division III. Despite being left with only six months to recruit following the previous coach's abrupt exit, Kuhn built a roster of 16 players and ensured the program's planned start date in 2013 did not waver.

Prior to Kuhn's stay at Defiance, he served as the Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at The College of Mount Saint Vincent, an NCAA Division III school located in Riverdale, New York, from 2008 to 2012. In his four years with the Dolphins, Kuhn was primarily responsible for the recruitment of student-athletes, practice and competition preparation, process of travel and managing the team's academic process.  He mentored the first All-Conference First Team selections in school history, helped the offense make a two-goal boost in production and engineered the biggest recruiting class in school history.

While serving in that capacity for Mount Saint Vincent, Kuhn also worked as the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Copiague High School from 2008 to 2011. In that role, Kuhn worked side-by-side with the head coach and the school's athletic director to implement new strategies for the program. In that three-year stead, Kuhn helped produce the Suffolk County Player of the Year while sending better than 15 players to various Division I, II, III and JUCO institutions.

Kuhn has made two other stops in his coaching career as he was the Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach at Hendrix College (Conway, AR) and Suffolk Community College (Brentwood, NY). While at Hendrix, Kuhn played a pivotal role in the launching of the brand new Division III lacrosse program as the recruiting coordinator. At Suffolk, Kuhn worked in a variety of roles for the nationally-ranked Sharks.

Before beginning his coaching career, Kuhn completed four years of collegiate lacrosse. Kuhn started his playing career at NCAA Division II Adelphi, but transferred to Manhattanville College for the final two years of his eligibility. Kuhn served as a two-year captain for the Valiants and played under two United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coach of the Year recipients in Sandy Kapatos and Daniel Mulholland. Kuhn also played for Tim Weir, the former coach and current Director of Coaching Development for the Irish National Team.

Kuhn received a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in History with a minor in Sociology from Manhattanville College in 2007. He is currently working towards a Master's Degree in Education at Defiance College.
