Carrington joined the LMU staff in June, 2015, and brings a wide array of coaching and managerial experience to the staff.
His experience immediately paid dividends as he and Coach Evans engineered the team to their best record since the 2003-04 season, their second-best ever finish in South AtlanticConference play and the program's first ever trip to the SAC Tournament semifinals. The squad dominated on the boards, leading the conference in every rebounding category and finishing fourth nationally in rebound margin. Highlights of the season include buzzer-beating wins over Mars Hill and Carson-Newman, come from behind wins over King and Catawba and dominating performances over Lenoir-Rhyne and then-SAC leader Newberry.Â
He came to Harrogate after pulling double duty as head coach at Salem Baptist Christian School and a coordinator at the Second Harvest Food Bank, both in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Carrington spent eight years at Second Harvest, where he was the Food Drive Coordinator and Retail Store Coordinator for a program that helped feed people in need in an 18 county area. From 2012-15 he coached at SBCS and led the Vikings to the tournament championship in 2015.
The Roxboro, North Carolina, native had a stellar prep career at Person High School, where he was named all-conference and all-area in both basketball and track as well as team MVP in both sports his senior season. A three-year letterman in basketball, he helped lead the Rockets to a conference title in 1998. He also ran cross country while at Person.
Carrington joined the women's basketball staff at Gardner-Webb in 2004 as a student assistant under Coach Rick Reeves. While at GWU he helped guide the Bulldogs to their first post-season play as a Division I member when they reached the Atlantic Sun championship game, where they fell to Florida Atlantic. During his tenure at GWU he had various duties including Assistant Team Manager, Student Assistant Coach and Video Coordinator.
Carrington graduated in 2006 from Gardner-Webb with a degree in Mass Communications and a concentration in Radio/TV.
His duties at LMU include player development, scouting, recruiting, game/practice planning and budget management.
