Jenny Michael enters her ninth season as the head coach of the women’s volleyball program at Lincoln Memorial University in 2019. She is also starting her fourth year as the first-ever head coach of the beach volleyball program, which made its debut in 2016.

During her eight years at the helm of the indoor program, Michael has led the Railsplitters to a 151-98 record and has posted four 20-win seasons. The 2018 campaign was Michael’s most recent 20-win season and included:

  • A NCAA Tournament at-large bid and a trip to the Division II Southeast Regional
  • Playing for the South Atlantic Championship against national powerhouse Wingate
  • An upset win over Anderson in the SAC tournament semifinals
  • A second-straight American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award

The 2018 season also saw two LMU players garner individual awards with senior defensive specialist Erica Whitaker claiming CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-American of the Year accolades and redshirt junior right side hitter Rylee Storms picking up AVCA All-Southeast Region honors.

Guiding the fledgling beach volleyball program, Michael has led her squad to improvement each season. The beach team posted eight wins in the spring of 2019 and owns 31 match victories over the last four seasons.

Michael came to LMU in December of 2010 after a five-year stint as the assistant volleyball coach at Division I Troy University in Alabama. Prior to joining Troy, Michael was a high school coach in Kent, Washington, and a graduate assistant coach at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia.

A native of northern Ohio, Michael played collegiate volleyball at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. She was a member of a Peach Belt Champion team and was named MVP and team captain during the 2000 season.
