Travis Cooke was named an assistant coach for the Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer program in the spring of 2021 and enters his second season on staff. Cooke came to LMU after a successful playing career at VCU and Francis Marion. He served as a graduate assistant for the program during the fall of 2020.
Cooke helped the Railsplitters LMU finish 4-5 (2-4 SAC) during a unique spring season and appear in the conference tournament for the 14th consecutive time. The spring saw the team post victories over Lenoir-Rhyne (the eventual conference tournament runner-up) and Lee (the defending Gulf South Conference champions) on the road before becoming the only team to defeat Carson-Newman during the regular season (also a road win). The victories helped the Railsplitters earn the eighth seed in the conference tournament.Â
During his time at FMU, Cooke captained a squad that captured the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Following a standout senior season, Cooke was named first team all-conference and second team all-region and was invited to the Pro Combine for the Charlotte Independence of the USL Championship.
Outisde of collegiate soccer, Cooke is the all-time leading goal scorer for Lionsbridge FC of USL League Two. Prior to his collegiate career, he played with Richmond United's development academy.
