Sterling Webb has been named this week's Juice Spot Railsplitter of the Week following a superb performance in the Bast-Cregger Invitational.
Webb participated in the pentathlon. The pentathlon consisted of 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and an 800m run. She placed top five in all the pentathlon events. She scored 3416 in the pentathlon, breaking the previous record, held by
Elizabeth Close (2955). Webb also broke her previous school record in the women's long jump (5.31m, 17'5.25") that she set in her debut in the Commonwealth College Opener. Webb ran a 9.17 in the 60m hurdles, placing second behind a tough competitor, Caroline Minozzi, from Jacksonville State. However, Webb went on to place first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.41, beating a mixture of NAIA, DII, and DI players. Webb tied a school record in the women's high jump (1.57m, 5'1.75"). She also placed third in the shot-put event throwing a 31'8.0", 9.65m) When asked about Sterling's performance, Head Coach Black stated, "Sterling tied a school record and broke two more. Hitting the national standard was a nice bonus. She will continue to improve, and we will see how she fares at the season's end."
