JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- The Lady Railsplitters (16-12, 12-8 SAC) were handed a straight-set loss (15-25, 18-25, 26-28) by the Carson-Newman Eagles (23-5, 18-2 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action Tuesday in Jefferson City, Tenn.

With the win, Carson-Newman swept the regular-season series from Lincoln Memorial for the first time since the 2008 campaign, but the Lady Railsplitters still own a 29-17 advantage in the all-time series.

The Lady Railsplitters were limited to a .140 attack percentage with 33 kills and 16 errors on 121 total attempts. Lincoln Memorial shot itself in the foot in service reception with seven miscues.

Freshman outside hitter
Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) and senior right side
Allison Beavers (Tomball, Texas) paced the Lady Railsplitters with nine kills apiece. Beavers accumulated that mark on a .231 attacking clip, while Holland added 16 digs to her stat ledger. Junior
Kendra Gephart (Morrow, Ohio) contributed four kills on only six attempts for a .667 attack percentage to go alongside nine digs. Sophomore setter
Abby Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) logged 27 assists, eight digs and two block assists, while junior libero
Casey Mense (Littleton, Colo.) led the Lady Railsplitters with 17 scoops. Junior middle blocker
Jazzy Oates (Franklin, Tenn.) filled out the stat sheet with three kills, four digs and three block assists.

Carson-Newman attacked at a .265 rate with 51 kills and 15 errors on 136 total attempts. The Eagles accounted for seven service aces and 11 block assists in the match.

Jenna Wilson led all players with 14 kills on a gaudy .433 attack percentage, while Kyrie Pennington posted 11 kills on a .429 hitting clip to go along with 10 digs. Lauren Santarelli contributed nine kills, while Rachel Harper, who ranks second in the SAC with 3.55 kills per set, was limited to only six kills in the match. Kristen Pickett racked up 41 assists and 12 digs, while Taylor Lowe led everybody with 19 scoops.

The Eagles kicked off the opening set with a 10-3 run and never looked back in route to a decisive 25-15 victory. After that early run, the Lady Railsplitters never closed the deficit to less than five. Lincoln Memorial was limited to just seven kills with a .079 attack percentage in the frame, while Carson-Newman produced 19 kills on a .319 clip.

Things didn't get much easier for the Lady Railsplitters in the second set as they compiled 10 kills with six errors for a .093 clip. The two teams met in a 6-6 tie early, but the Eagles used a 10-4 run to assume a 16-10 edge. Lincoln Memorial was never able to recover before ultimately suffering a 25-18 loss.

The third set featured 10 ties and seven lead changes, and the Lady Railsplitters had an opportunity to win the frame after taking a 26-25 lead on a Carson-Newman attack error. But, a Santarelli kill, an LMU attack error and a Kristina Hill service ace capped a 3-0 closing rally for the Eagles.

The Railsplitters return to Mary Mars Gym for the final weekend of the regular season, kicking off the two-match set by hosting the Newberry Wolves at 7 p.m. on Friday night. Â
