HARROGATE, Tenn. – Junior
Kadie Soall (Tecumseh, Ontario) supplied the damage as the Lady Railsplitters (5-2, 3-1 SAC) knocked off the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (4-3-1, 3-1 SAC) 1-0 Saturday at the LMU Soccer Complex to pick up their fourth-consecutive victory.
Saturday's win marked Lincoln Memorial's second-consecutive win over the Bears as the Lady Railsplitters defeated the then No. 16 nationally ranked L-R squad in the semifinals of the 2013 SAC Championship.
Midfielder
Kadie Soall put Lincoln Memorial on the board in the 34th minute when she fired a free kick from just outside of the box that was deflected by Bear goalkeeper Andrea Leano off the right post before sneaking across the line.
The scored marked the second-consecutive contest in which the Division I transfer has netted a goal as the Tecumseh, Ontario native struck against Mars Hill Wednesday evening for her first career goal in the Blue and Gray.
Despite falling on the short end of a 19-8 shot disparity, the Lady Railsplitters' defensive line stood strong as they kept Garcelle Alequine, who currently leads the SAC with eight goals, off the board. Alequine launched eight shot attempts in the contest with three shots on frame.
Six different Lady Railsplitters accumulated shots on the afternoon as
Michelle Hunter (Tecumseh, Ontario) and Soall paced the team with two shots apiece. Senior
Fernanda Miaci (Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil), along with juniors
Lauren Dusold (Spirit Lake, Iowa),
Maddy Nagy (Rockledge, Fla.), and
Josefin Hedstrom (Burtrask, Sweden), supplied a single shot attempt.
Junior goalkeeper
Kayla Stephens (Keller, Texas) made it six straight scoreless appearances Saturday, as the Keller, Texas native recorded five saves in the shutout effort.
Three yellow cards were issued in the contest as LMU accounted for two with both Soall and Stephens drawing cards. Lenoir-Rhyne's Alequine was issued the final card. 30 total fouls were called with the Bears accounting for 18 of those whistles.
Lincoln Memorial will look to make it five-straight wins as they welcome the Brevard Tornados to the LMU Soccer Complex Saturday, October 4 with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
