Â
Back-to-back kills from Kara Overholt and Shealynn Miller staked the Cobras to a 5-4 lead early in set one, but the Lady Railsplitters used two kills from Holland and two aces by Fleeman to fuel a 9-0 run and take a commanding 13-5 lead. Lincoln Memorial controlled the pace for the remainder of the set, as two straight kills from Ged increased the Lady Railsplitters' advantage to 18-7. LMU, who hit .303 and held Coker to a .056 clip, cruised to the finish line with a 25-15 victory.
Â
The Lady Railsplitters carried that momentum into the second set, taking a 9-3 lead following a kill by Holland and a Coker attack error. The Cobras stopped the bleeding briefly with a kill from Miller, but Lincoln Memorial won eight of the next nine rallies, a stretch aided by five Coker attack errors, to build an insurmountable 17-5 lead. Back-to-back aces from Whiteaker followed by another Coker attack error clinched the Lady Railsplitters' 25-10 victory. LMU hit .296 and accounted for 10 points via the kill, while Coker gave 10 points away in the attack with a -.054 hitting percentage.
Â
Coker built a big lead in the third set and managed to avoid a straight-set sweep by holding off the Lady Railsplitters late. With the set tied at 3-3, the Cobras stepped into the driver's seat by winning the point in nine of the next 12 rallies to take a 12-6 lead. A kill by Ragan Kennen made it 16-10 later in the set to keep the deficit at six points, but the Lady Railsplitters went on a quick 4-1 spurt to trim Coker's lead to 17-14. The Lady Railsplitters trailed the remainder of the way before fighting off set point to even the score at 25-25. The Cobras would, however, win the next two points to force a fourth set.
