GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Senior midfielder
Kadie Soall (Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada) scored a pair of goals and junior goalkeeper
Kathryn Lundy (Pinckney, Mich.) made a career-high nine saves as the Lady Railsplitters (2-1-3, 1-0-2 SAC) played the Tusculum Pioneers (3-4-1, 0-2-1 SAC) to a 3-3 double overtime draw in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday night in Greeneville, Tenn.
Â
The three-goal outburst was a welcome sight for Lincoln Memorial, who had combined for one goal total in its four matches since opening the season with a 4-3 win over West Alabama.
Â
Soall broke a personal five-match scoreless streak and matched her goal output from all of the 2014 season in Wednesday's contest, leading the Lady Railsplitters' offense with two goals.
Â
Soall opened the scoring in the 15th minute when she juked two players out inside the box and fired a shot into the right-hand corner of the net, tallying the Lady Railsplitters' first goal since the 50th minute of a win at Brevard on September 16. The Pioneers answered right back in the 18th minute as Taylor Lewis sent a ball downfield for Katja Andersson. Lundy rushed up to cut off the shot attempt but was a bit tardy as Andersson snuck it past her for the equalizer.
Â
Olivia Thompson (Melbourne, Fla.) put the Lady Railsplitters back in front in the 34th minute by firing in a highly-contested attempt from 25 yards out for her second goal of the season. Tusculum needed just a hair over two minutes to knot the match up again, though, as Kelli McCalla capitalized on a PK opportunity to make it a 2-2 game.
Â
Nine minutes into the second half, the Pioneers returned the favor and committed a foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick try for Soall, who drained it to put the Lady Railsplitters back in front 3-2 with 36 minutes remaining in regulation.
Â
Tusculum responded for the third and final time in the 64th minute, tying it up at 3-3 on a goal by Lewis.
Â
Lewis nearly ended the match just 13 seconds into the first overtime period, but Lundy made a tremendous stop to perpetuate the match. Lundy made two saves in the second overtime to secure the draw, stopping a shot by Carly Mill in the 101st minute and another by Olivia Kilgore with 29 ticks left.
Â
Lundy faced unrelenting pressure throughout the match and mostly stood up to the test. She faced 25 shots and 12 shots on goal, finishing with a career-best nine saves.
Â
The Lady Railsplitters registered 15 shots and five shots on goal. Soall and
Maddy Nagy (Viera, Fla.) paced LMU with three shots apiece.
Â
Tusculum produced a 13-2 advantage on corner kick attempts.
Â
Wednesday night marked the first tie in the LMU-Tusculum series since 2009, when the two programs played to a 0-0 draw in Greeneville.
Â
Next on tap, the Lady Railsplitters complete the road-heavy portion of their schedule with a 4:30 p.m. kickoff in Hickory, N.C. on Saturday.Â
