HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The 16th-ranked Railsplitters (12-2, 8-0 SAC) look to avoid a letdown and knock off Anderson for the fifth straight time on Wednesday night when they welcome the Trojans (5-9, 3-5 SAC) to Tex Turner Arena for an 8 p.m. South Atlantic Conference clash. In addition to being broadcast at its regular location on LMU Community TV, the LMU/Anderson game will also be broadcast regionally in Eastern Kentucky via WYMT.
Â
Lincoln Memorial and Anderson have a relatively brief but loaded history at Tex Turner Arena. The Trojans won three straight games in Harrogate from February of 2012 to November of 2013, and those three wins were decided by a mere seven points combined - 62-61 on February 18, 2012, 67-66 on January 12, 2013 and 84-79 in overtime on November, 26, 2013.
Â
But the Railsplitters snapped that three-game losing skid at Tex Turner and defeated the Trojans for the fourth straight time overall with a dominant 73-54 win in last season's home game on January 7. Lincoln Memorial held Anderson to 33.9 percent shooting and a 3-for-17 mark from three-point territory to pace the victory.
Luquon Choice (Laurens, S.C.) put up 20 points, while
Dorian Pinson (Greenville, S.C.) had 11 points and nine rebounds to lead the Railsplitters.
Â
Lincoln Memorial ran its record to 8-0 in SAC play on Saturday with an 86-76 victory over previously undefeated and No. 8 nationally-ranked Queens, notching the program's first win over a top-10 ranked opponent of the NCAA Division II era. The Railsplitters trailed for a total of just 19 seconds and led by as many as 17 points in the second half before settling for the 10-point win to take over sole possession of first place in the SAC standings. Choice and
Jalen Steele (Knoxville, Tenn.) paced the Railsplitters with 19 points apiece, while Choice became just the fourth player in program history to make 200 career three-pointers with his triple at the 15-minute mark of the first half.
Â
Anderson, meanwhile, is coming off of a heartbreaking 83-80 loss at Lenoir-Rhyne, as the Trojans led by 11 points with nine and half minutes to go before faltering down the stretch to fall to 0-7 on the road this season. That loss dropped Anderson to 1-4 in its last five South Atlantic Conference games and into a tie for seventh place in the league standings at 3-5 overall.
Â
The Trojans have lacked punch offensively this season, ranking 11th in the SAC in field-goal percentage (42.5 percent), three-point field-goal percentage (30.7 percent), scoring offense (69.4 points/game) and free-throw percentage (62.2 percent). Turnovers have also played a significant role in Anderson's sputtering offense, as they rank 214th in the nation and ninth in the league with 14.7 turnovers per game.
Â
A relatively stingy defense has helped the Trojans remain competitive in spite of those poor offensive numbers, though, as Anderson is ranked second in the SAC in scoring defense by allowing just 70.9 points per game on 42.1 percent shooting.
Â
The Trojans are led by freshman guard Randall Shaw, who is putting up 17.7 points per game on 41.9 percent shooting coupled with 2.8 rebounds per appearance. Sophomore guard Maurice Howard is shooting 41.4 percent from three-point range while contributing 12.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Rakish Taylor - a 6-7 redshirt junior - is averaging a near double-double with 10.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Lex Davis and Tre' Field are chipping in 6.8 points per game apiece.
Â
The Railsplitters have won nine consecutive regular-season games at Tex Turner Arena dating back to the 2014-15 campaign. They are 7-0 in Harrogate this season with an average margin of victory of 28.1 points.
Â
Tip-off between Lincoln Memorial and Anderson is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Tex Turner Arena. Live stat, video and audio links are available at www.LMURailsplitters.com.
