Notes on the Lady Railsplitters:
Papa John's Splitter Sound Bites podcast with Coach D'Anna
- Lincoln Memorial is coming off its most successful week of the season with a 4-1 victory at Converse and 1-1 draw at Newberry. The five goals far surpassed their total of three through the first eight games of the year.
-
Palisa Chipendo (Brighton, England) scored a 68
th-minute goal, her first as a Lady Railsplitter, to put Lincoln Memorial up 1-0 at Newberry. But they could not withstand a late rally by the Wolves, who tied the game in the 81
st minute on a missed cross that sailed into the top corner of the net.
-
Caroline Souza (São Paulo, Brazil) and
Hanna Ratliff (Somerset, Ky.) scored two goals apiece in LMU's 4-1 victory at Converse. Souza's two goals Tuesday gave her three overall for the season, which leads all Lady Railsplitters. Ratliff is second on the team with two after her multi-goal effort.
-
Melissa Carpenter (Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Kaitlyn Tisch (Tacoma, Wash.) have accounted for one goal apiece.
Alyssa Berry (St. Joseph, Mich.) is the only other player to total a point this season; she assisted on Tisch's goal against Brevard.
- Possession has been a problem for the Lady Railsplitters all season, as they have been outshot in all but one game this season—a 1-0 victory against Brevard September 14 in which they tallied a season-high 23 shots while allowing a season low of nine. On average, opponents have outshot LMU 20.0-11.1.
- The Lady Railsplitters have struggled to find consistent offensive production this season, as they have only scored eight goals in 10 games on 111 shots. They place 10
th out of the 12-team SAC with 11.1 shots per game and 11
th at .80 goals per game. Coker is last in both categories.
- The Lady Railsplitters' 7.2 shooting percentage is the lowest mark in the SAC. Brevard is next with a 7.3 percent mark.
- Goalie
Kathryn Lundy (Pinckney, Mich.) has recorded a new season-high in saves in each of her past three games. She has played in all 10 of Lincoln Memorial's matches (seven starts) and is tied for fourth in the conference with 42 saves.
- Lincoln Memorial is one of two SAC teams, along with Coker, not to record a shutout this season.
- The Lady Railsplitters play at home Saturday for the first time since September 24. The team is in the midst of playing six of its final eight matches away from the LMU Soccer Complex.
- Lincoln Memorial has struggled at home this year to a 1-3 mark. They have only scored one total goal in four home matches while allowing 10.
- Lincoln Memorial's 1-4-1 (4 points) conference record is good for 10th in the South Atlantic Conference above Coker (1-6; 3 points) and Brevard (0-7; 0).
Notes on the Cobras:
- Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Tusculum extended Coker's losing streak to five games—all against SAC foes. They have been outscored 13-0 during those five games.
- The Cobras are 2-4 at away from home this season, including 1-3 in conference play. Their conference win was 2-1 at Brevard.
- Coker has particularly struggled at home, where they own a 0-3 record while getting shut out in all three matches.
- Coker has averaged 6.3 shots and .67 goals per game. Both rank last in the SAC by a wide margin. But the Cobras have been efficient when they do take shots—their 10.5 shooting percentage ranks fifth in the SAC.
- The Cobras have been outshot in all nine matches this season and 199-57 overall. On average they are outshot 22.1-6.3 per game.
- Forward Phoebie Eshen leads the team with three goals. Ashley Hogg and Renee Ledesma have also added one apiece. The team has also scored courtesy of an own goal against Barton. Autumn Fetterolf is the only other player to tally a point this season; she assisted on one of Eshen's goals against Brevard.
- Goalkeeper Shelby Middleton has been busy in goal for the Cobras and leads all SAC goalies with 53 saves despite playing in just seven games (five starts). Her 82.8 save percentage ranks fifth in the conference among qualified goalies.
- Coker is one of two SAC teams, along with Lincoln Memorial, not to record a shutout this season.
