Quick Hits:
-The Lady Railsplitters pushed their winning streak to four games on Wednesday by sweeping a doubleheader from the King Tornado in the Dorothy Neely Field opener. In game one, Brianna Taylor (Ooltewah, Tenn.) kept the Tornado in check for 6 1/3 innings, allowing just six hits and one unearned run over that span, while BriAnna Schrimpf (Chandler, Ariz.) drove in three runs with a home run and a double to pace a 4-1 win. In game two, the Lady Railsplitters scored six unanswered runs to overcome an 8-5 deficit and complete the sweep with an 11-8 triumph. Lincoln Memorial fell one hit shy of matching its season-high mark for hits with 12 in that contest.
-Jennifer Moose (Statesville, N.C.) had a big day in that doubleheader against King, going 2-for-3 in game one with a run scored before going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double in the nightcap. The junior catcher now has multiple hits in three of her last four games, as she is tied with Schrimpf for the team lead in that department with six multi-hit games this season.
-Taylor has recorded the win in all four games during LMU's current four-game winning streak, running her season record to 5-6. After her near complete game in the matinee of the King series, Taylor was called on in relief in game two and held the Tornado scoreless over 3 1/3 innings of work. The Ooltewah, Tenn. native's earned run average has steadily declined since cresting at 4.23 following the North Georgia series on March 2. She enters the weekend sporting a 3.03 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings of work.
-After playing the first 21 games of the season outside of Harrogate, this weekend begins another semi-lengthy road stretch for the Lady Railsplitters, who will now play their next eight games away from Dorothy Neely Field. Upon completion of the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament, South Atlantic Conference play commences with Lincoln Memorial slated for trips to Wingate (March 19) and Anderson (March 23).
-Schrimpf is the hottest hitter currently operating for the Lady Railsplitters, as she has hit safely in six of her last 11 at-bats with two hits in each of her last three appearances. The Chandler, Ariz. native has recorded nine RBI over that span to increase her team-leading total to 14.

Notes on the Opponents:
-Ohio Valley opened the 2016 season earlier this week at the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Fighting Scots went 3-5 at that event, finishing with three straight losses to Millersville (twice) and Roosevelt University.
-Madison Wallace (.455, 1 RBI), Brianna Thomas (.400, 1 2B, 4 RBI) and Kristine Brown (.357, 2 RBI) are leading the Ohio Valley offense, while six different pitchers have combined for a 3.96 ERA. Brown leads that group with 14 2/3 innings pitched, a span during which she is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA.
-Like Ohio Valley, Bowie State also opened its season this past weekend, dropping four of five games at the Shaw Lady Bears Classic in Raleigh, N.C. Aside from a 15-run outburst in a five-inning win over Paine, the Bulldogs were limited to just three runs total over the other four games in that event.
-The Bulldogs are hitting .227 as a team with just 27 hits in 119 official at-bats. Twelve of those 27 hits came at the expense of Paine, while Bowie State was held to four hits or fewer in every other game last weekend.
-Mercyhurst kicked off its season on January 30 against California State-San Bernardino on January 30, but the Lakers haven't been back in action since dropping both of those games in Bernardino, Calif. The Lakers went 16-28 last season.
-The Concord Mountain Lions are off to a 10-3 start to the 2016 campaign, as they most recently split a doubleheader against the Carson-Newman Eagles on Wednesday in Athens, W.Va.
-Concord is hitting .332 as a unit with a .397 on-base percentage. Both Alyssa Morris and Alayna Furr are hitting over .500 with 12 appearances under their belt. Morris is hitting .556 with five doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI, while Furr is batting .500 with three doubles and eight stolen bases. Lauren Lewis is backing that tandem with a .382 average, two triples and 12 RBI. Sarah Herndon is leading the Concord pitching staff with a 3.16 ERA, a 4-2 record and 26 strikeouts over 37 2/3 innings pitched.

Series History:
-The Lady Railsplitters are 4-0 all-time against Ohio Valley. The two teams last met in 2009, when Lincoln Memorial swept a doubleheader from the Fighting Scots at Dorothy Neely Field by scores of 13-5 and 6-5.
-This weekend marks Lincoln Memorial's first-ever meeting against either Bowie State or Mercyhurst.
-The Lady Railsplitters are a perfect 11-0 against Concord with a 5-0 mark on a neutral field. LMU and Concord haven't played since 2012, when the Lady Railsplitters captured 8-0 and 8-3 wins in Harrogate.
