HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Lady Railsplitter lacrose team (2-4, 0-2 SAC) set a new program record for goals in a conference match but were unable to pick up the win as they fell to Catawba (3-3, 1-1 SAC) 19-13 Saturday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Complex.
Three Lady Railsplitters had hat tricks on the afternoon.
Jasmin Click (Clermont, Fla.),
Casey Kelly (Ellenwood, Ga.) and
Amara Moss (Woodbridge, Va.) had three goals apiece.
Bre'Asia James (Vero Beach, Fla.) added in two goals while
Abby Hoskins (Louisville, Ky.) and
Jeni Schorling (Westerville, OH) each had a goal.
LMU outshot Catawba 31-29 and had 17 draw controls to CC's 16
Kirstyn Kruse led the Indians with five goals while Meredith Jones and Nicolette Salay added in 4 goals each.
Catawba picked up 24 ground balls to LMU's 19.
The Indians went out to the early 2-0 lead before Click scored two quick goals to tie the game. Catawba scored three times in a seven minute span to take the 5-2 lead before LMU had goals from Schorling, Moss and James to tie the game for the second time at 5-5. The Indians then went on a 4-0 run to take the 9-5 lead into the half.
Kelly would find Moss to cut the lead to three with 27:03 remaining but Kruse would answer back with an unassisted goal less than a minute later. Kelly would score her fourth goal of the season a few seconds later to cut the lead back to three. The teams would trade goals over the next seven minutes as Hoskins, Kelly and James all would score only to see Catawba answer with a goal of their own.
Catawba then scored five unanswered goals to roll out to a 18-10 lead with a little over seven minutes remaining. Click scored off a Kelly assist with 4:50 remaining but Catawba then went into a stall offense to run time off the clock. After an Indian goal to extend the lead to 19-11, Kelly and Moss would pick up goals to cut into the lead but Catawba held on for the 19-13 win.
The Lady Railsplitters will travel to Wingate next Saturday seeking their first SAC win. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
