Quick Hits

- The Lady Railsplitters snapped Wingate's four-game shutout streak and scored their first goal against the Bulldogs since 2013, but it wasn't enough in a 3-1 loss at the Pride Park on Saturday. Lincoln Memorial landed four shots on goal before Wingate accounted for its first shot attempt, but goals in the 21st and 31st minutes gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at the half. Isa Jara cut the deficit in half in the 66th minute with her first goal of the season, but the Bulldogs added an insurance goal in the 83rd for the 12th straight time.

- Jara's goal also snapped Lincoln Memorial's three-game scoreless streak in South Atlantic Conference play. The Lady Railsplitters had previously been shutout by Tusculum (1-0), Queens (4-0) and Lenoir-Rhyne (1-0).

- The first five matches on the SAC schedule for the Lady Railsplitters did not appear to be kind before the season even began, as Lincoln Memorial was set to face the league's top-five finishers from the 2016 campaign in succession. Including Wednesday's opponent, Carson-Newman, the first five SAC opponents have a combined 30-10-2 record so far this season. It eases up a bit after Wednesday, as LMU's last five league opponents are 12-26-3.

- Eight different players have scored at least one goal for the Lady Railsplitters, while nine players have tallied at least one assist. Jara and Patricia Roach are the only players with multiple assists for Lincoln Memorial with two apiece. Points leader Caroline Souza hasn't had a goal or an assist since a win over Tennessee Wesleyan on September 3, and has been sidelined with an injury during the team's last two games.

- With a whole month remaining in the regular-season schedule, the Lady Railsplitters have already surpassed their win total (3) and goal total (12) from the entire 2016 campaign. Lincoln Memorial has accounted for 14 goals while picking up five wins.

Know the Opponent

- No. 9 nationally-ranked Carson-Newman remained unbeaten on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Anderson. Reigning D2CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year and first team All-American Lauren Wade assisted on all three Eagle goals – 13th, 26th and 87th minutes – to power the victory.

- Carson-Newman's lone blemish was a 2-2 draw against Lenoir-Rhyne. The Eagles had a 2-1 lead in that contest until the Bears forced overtime with an 87th-minute strike.

- The Eagles have won by at least two goals in seven of their eight victories this season, including 5-1 wins over Georgia College and Mars Hill, a 4-0 win at Lees-McRae and a 4-2 win over Queens.

- Carson-Newman boasts far and away the most potent offensive attack in the SAC, ranking first in goals (29), goals per game (3.22), shots per game (21.8), and shots on goal (99). The Eagles have yet to be held below two goals in a match this season.

- Wade leads the Eagles with 18 points on five goals and a SAC-best eight assists. Junior forward Holly Talbut-Smith has produced five goals and five assists, while junior midfielder Magda Mosengo has five goals and a pair of assists. Four other players have accounted for multiple goals for the Eagles, including Jaidyn Zapf with three.

- Sophomore Jacqueline Burns has started all nine matches in goal for the Eagles, ranking second in the SAC in goals against average (0.57) and save percentage (.848). She has posted three clean sheets already this season.

- The Eagles are 4-0-1 at McCown Field this season. Carson-Newman has been slightly more vulnerable on defense at home, allowing two goals against Queens and Lenoir-Rhyne. The Eagles haven't allowed more than one goal in any other match.

Head-to-Head

The Lady Railsplitters are 7-15-1 all-time against Carson-Newman, who has posted three consecutive shutouts versus Lincoln Memorial. The Lady Railsplitters last beat the Eagles on October 9, 2014, when graduate assistant coach Fernanda Miaci scored a hat trick in a 4-3 double-overtime victory in Jefferson City. Carson-Newman has won the last two matchups 1-0. Strangely, five of LMU's seven victories in the series have occurred on the road.
