Career highs by Maxwell and Duggins power No. 9/11 LMU past Mars Hill 91-63

MARS HILL, NC – The No. 9/11 Lady Railsplitters hit a new single-game high for three-point percentage and had two players set new career highs as they cruised to the 91-63 win over Mars Hill Wednesday evening.

LMU improves to 22-2 on the season and 17-2 in the SAC. The 17 SAC wins are the most by a LMU women's basketball team since joining the conference.

Dasia Maxwell (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the team and set a new career high with 16 points. Megan Pittman (Liberty, Ky.) added in 15 points and Shea Coker (Knoxville, Tenn.) had 14 points. Sydney Duggins (Oliver Springs, Tenn.) chipped in a career high 13 points while Josey Harding (Middletown, Ohio) had 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Mars Hill was led by Aaliyah Farmer's 19 points and Paige Chavis' 14 points.

LMU out-shot the Lions 55.2%-to-37.0% from the field and 63.2%-to-31.3% from three-point range. The 63.2 percentage set a new school record. Mars Hill won the free throw percentage battle, besting LMU 69.2%-to-41.7%. LMU out-rebounded the Lions 40-33 and had 41 bench points to MHU's five.

LMU never trailed in the game. The Lions tied the score three-times in the first quarter before LMU went on a 7-2 run to close out the quarter with a 20-15 lead.

The Lady Railsplitters started out the second quarter on a 6-0 run and eventually pulled out to 41-24 as Duggins hit back-to-back three-pointers to end the half.

LMU extended the lead to 27 early in the third quarter and eventually up to 35 points as a three-pointer by Maxwell made the score 73-38 at the end of the period.

The score remained above a 30-point margin for the majority of the fourth period before a late Mars Hill run cut it to 91-63 as time expired.

LMU returns home to host Queens on Saturday at 2 p.m. It will be Senior Day for seniors Megan Pittman, Josey Harding and Sydney Anderson.
