HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The LMU women's lacrosse team outscored host Alabama-Huntsville 6-5 in the second half, but a 12-2 first half deficit proved to be too much to overcome as they fell to the Chargers 17-8 Saturday afternoon.

Kennedy Buechner (Stafford, Va.) led LMU with her first career hat trick. The freshman also won two draw controls. Amara Moss (Woodbridge, Va.) and Casey Kelly (Ellenwood, Ga.) chipped in two goals apiece while Heather Roache (Vero Beach, Fla.) notched a goal. Kelly also had six draw controls.

Nicole Federovich and Alanna Carvalho led the Chargers with four goals each.

UAH came out shooting as they score three goals in the first ten minutes. Roach put LMU on the board with her goal at the 9:11 mark to make the score 7-1. After a Charger goal, Kelly scored her first goal with 4:55 remaining. UAH would score four more times in the half to take a 12-2 lead into halftime.

After a Federovich goal, Moss scored two quick goals in less than two minutes to cut the score to 13-4. UAH would score again about six minutes later, followed by Buechner's first goal with 13:18 left. Kelly would score again with 9:45 remaining to cut the UAH lead to 15-6. UAH would score twice to make the lead 17-6 before Buechner scored the final two goals of the game.

LMU falls to 0-2 on the season with the loss. The Lady Railsplitters will play at Lee Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
