HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's lacrosse team fell to ninth-ranked Queens University 24-5 Saturday afternoon.
LMU was led by
Kennedy Buechner (Stafford, Va.) and
Heather Roache (Vero Brach, Fla.) with two goals apiece, while
Zoe Zervos (Ithaca, N.Y.) had a goal.
Jeni Schorling (Westerville, Ohio) had four ground balls while goalie
Shannon Novak (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) had 10 saves in cage.
Queens' Katie Pawlikowski had four goals, and four other players each had hat tricks as Hanna Scott, Ally Blood, Abigail Paulus and Sydney Lear each had three goals.
After Queens took the 1-0 lead, Buechner tied the game at 1-1 with 27:53 remaining in the half. Queens would then roll off four unanswered goals before Buechner picked up her second goal of the day at the 19:21 mark. The Royals then went on an 8-1 run to close out the half and take a 13-3 lead into halftime. Zervos scored LMU's goal during this stretch, at the 1:56 mark.
Roache scored both of LMU's goals in the second half, at the 28:40 and 20:14 marks, but the Royals outscored LMU 11-2 in the half to coast to the 24-5 win.
LMU will host Tusculum Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Lacrosse Complex.
