Roache's seven goals lead LMU in 15-6 win over Lees-McRae

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's lacrosse team held Lees-McRae to only two second half goals as they cruised to the 15-6 win Wednesday evening at the LMU Lacrosse Complex.

LMU improves to 6-8 on the season with the win, which is their third consecutive victory. Lees-McRae falls to 3-9.

The Lady Railsplitters were led by Heather Roache (Vero Beach, Fla.), who had a career-high seven goals. Kennedy Buechner (Stafford, Va.) added in four goals while Amara Moss (Woodbridge, Va.) added in seven goals and won six draw controls. Jasmin Click (Clermont, Fla.) had a goal and six ground balls while Zoe Zervos (Ithaca, N.Y.) had a goal, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Goalie Shannon Novak (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) had 13 saves.

Peyton LeCompte led the Bobcats with three goals. Tiffany Laster had a goal, five ground balls and won five draw controls. Sara Henderson and Callie Gregg had a goal apiece. LMC goalies Samantha Thomson and Dayna Decesare each played a half and combined for nine saves.

LMU out-shot the Bobcats 35-26, won 13 draws to the Bobcats' 11 and caused 19 turnovers while LMC caused 13.

Roache led things off with her first goal off a pass from Buechner at the 29:13 mark. LeCompte would then give the Bobcats the lead with a pair of goals over the next four minutes. Zervos' 26th goal of the season at the 23:31 mark would spark five unanswered goals by the Lady Railsplitters over the next 12 minutes. LeCompte then scored with 11:34 remaining to cut the lead to 6-3. Click answered with a goal a minute later and then both teams went on a five minute scoring drought which was broken at the 5:40 mark when Henderson scored for the Bobcats. Roache and Buechner would each score another goal before the half and LMU took the 9-4 lead into halftime.

???????Roache made it 10-4 with her goal off an assist from Click to open the second half. Laster (26:59) and Gregg (19:35) then scored to make it a 10-6 game. LMU called timeout and Coach Caitlyn Corace rallied her team, who then came out and scored five goals down the stretch, including three by Roache, to put the game away.

LMU now has ten days off before the regular-season finale at Coker on April 22.
