Quick Hits:
-The Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and withstood Lincoln Memorial's late rally to win game one in Jefferson City on Tuesday, 7-3. The Lady Railsplitters scored all three of their runs with two outs in the top of the seventh, as
Allie Jones laced an inside-the-park home run to score a pair of runs and
Abbie Bruns was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Dakotah Fraley came to the plate with the bases loaded representing the game-tying run, but flew out to deep right centerfield to end the contest.
-A two-run double by Jones put the Lady Railsplitters ahead 2-0 in game two, and they maintained that lead until a pair of two-out, run-scoring knocks by Carson-Newman tied the game in the bottom of the sixth. The Eagles went on to win the game via a walk-off walk in the eighth inning, which marred an otherwise strong performance in the circle by freshman right-hander
Justice Smith (7 hits, 2 earned runs, 4 strikeouts). The Lady Railsplitters had plenty of scoring chances, but left a season-high 11 runners stranded on base.
-The Lady Railsplitters will honor seniors
Meredith Johnson,
Kristen McAndrew,
Jennifer Moose and
BriAnna Schrimpf prior to first pitch in Friday's doubleheader. That quartet will be the final group of seniors to finish their careers at the current Dorothy Neely Field, as the LMU softball program will transition to the new turf field on the south end of campus next spring.
-Jones has hit safely in 19 of her last 23 games to lift her average from .167 to .354. The Ooltewah, Tennessee native is hitting a sizzling .477 with a .705 slugging percentage in SAC play, which ranks second and seventh in the conference respectively. Jones has homered in three of her last four games, including Tuesday's inside-the-park home run.
-
Ty-Kella Goins has also crushed SAC competition with a .378 batting average and .644 slugging percentage in conference play. She had a forgettable afternoon at Carson-Newman, though, going 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in the doubleheader.
-As a unit, the Lady Railsplitters are hitting .300 with a respectable .435 slugging percentage in conference play. Lincoln Memorial has also averaged well over four runs per game against SAC competition. However, the team's ERA against league opposition is 3.83 while the batting average against is .307. Smith leads the Lady Railsplitters with a 3.15 ERA in SAC play, while
Brianna Taylor has a 4.71 ERA in 11 SAC appearances.

Notes on the Bears:
-Lenoir-Rhyne opened the 2017 campaign by winning 26 of its first 28 games. After that red-hot start, the Bears lost five times over a seven-game stretch, including dropping both ends of a doubleheader against Wingate on March 22. However, L-R looks to have rediscovered its early-season form, as the Bears arrive in Harrogate with wins in 11 of their last 12 games. Lenoir-Rhyne knocked Coker from atop the SAC standings with 6-3 and 6-4 wins on Tuesday in Hartsville.
-Lenoir-Rhyne leads the SAC in batting average (.384), on-base percentage (.432), slugging percentage (.572), hits (507), runs (349), doubles (94), triples (24), RBI (311) and extra-base hits (153). In addition to that, the Bears have slugged the second-most home runs in the SAC with 35. According to the most recent national statistical update, L-R is ranked second in the nation in batting average, fifth in on-base percentage and seventh in scoring with 7.49 runs per game.
-The Bears' offense is led by SAC Player of the Year candidates Erin Boone and Sarah Kenley. Boone leads the SAC in batting average and on-base percentage with .490 and .561 marks. Boone also leads the league in hits with 76 and runs with 58 while compiling 11 doubles, five home runs, 17 steals and 41 RBI. Kenley is ranked in the top five in the SAC in batting average (.472), on-base percentage (.500) and slugging percentage (.799), and has racked up 68 hits with 18 doubles, nine dingers and 47 RBI. Boone went hitless in the doubleheader against Coker, marking the first time all season she has failed to record a hit in back-to-back games. Kenley is hitting a ridiculous .571 in SAC play.
-Madison Carter is also hitting above .400 with a .405 mark. The junior infielder has compiled 14 doubles and 35 RBI. Savannah Davis has only appeared in 38 of the team's 47 games, but has produced a .519 average with 41 hits and 15 steals over that span. All told, Lenoir-Rhyne has eight players that are hitting over .330 with at least 34 appearances this season.
-The Bears' pair one of the nation's most explosive offenses with a stellar pitching staff that has racked up a league-leading 17 shutouts while ranking second in the SAC with a 1.89 earned run average and a .242 batting average against. Lenoir-Rhyne's pitchers have been slightly more forgiving against conference opponents with a 2.34 ERA and a .282 batting average against.
-Sophomore Brandi Parks is 19-2 with a 1.41 ERA and 114 strikeouts over 138.2 innings of work. Freshman Sydney Miller is 11-4 with a 2.33 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 108.1 innings. Miller has been the better half of that duo in SAC play with a 7-1 conference record and a 1.98 ERA.
-The Bears are 11-1 on the road this season compared to an 18-7 home record. Lenoir-Rhyne's only road loss came at Newberry on March 29, as the Wolves scored three runs on just one hit in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off with a 6-5 victory.
