ROCK HILL, S.C. – The LMU men's tennis team improved to 17-3 on the year and advanced to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament semifinals for the fifth time with their 5-1 first round win over Tusculum

LMU swept the doubles to take the 3-0 lead. Joshua Peress (Montreal, Quebec) and David Segarra (Sabadell, Spain) started things off with their 8-2 win over Tashique Yader and Yago Fernandez at No. 2. Pepe Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) and Xavier Marti (Tortosa, Spain) then picked up the 9-7 win over Tomas Kmetko and Fabian Paier at No. 3. At No. 1, Joshua Coulthard (Staindrop, England) and Jake Tuchmann (Kennesaw, Ga.) gave LMU the doubles sweep with the 9-8 win over Leon Seiz and David Seigle.

In singles play, Peress put LMU ahead 4-0 as he cruised to the 6-1, 6-1 win over Kader at No. 3. Peress improved to 17-3 on the season. Tusculum then scored their only point as Kmetko defeated Coulthard 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1. LMU then clinched the win at No. 5 as Segarra not only picked up the 6-3, 6-2 win over Eduardo Munoz to give LMU the 5-1 victory, but improved to 19-0 on the season.

LMU now advances to the semifinal round, where they will face Wingate Friday morning at 9 a.m.
