No. 24 Railsplitters host No. 11 Young Harris Saturday for nationally-ranked showdown

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Railsplitters make their official LMU Soccer Complex debut Saturday when the Young Harris Mountain Lions (2-0-1) come to town for a pivotal early-season region showdown. Lincoln Memorial (2-0) is ranked No. 24 in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national poll, while Young Harris is No. 11. LMU is looking for its third 3-0 start in four years.

- Lincoln Memorial blew out King 3-0 Sunday in Barbourville, Ky. Danilo Da Silva, Felipe de Sousa and Victor Peres scored for the Railsplitters, while Caleb Cothrin made four saves and earned a clean sheet in his LMU debut.

Know the Opponent 

- Young Harris most recently tied Tusculum 1-1 Thursday at home. Tusculum took an early 1-0 lead before Mikie Rowe tied the game in the 42nd minute. The Mountain Lions played a man up for nearly 30 minutes after a Tusculum red card in the 81st minute but failed to capitalize in the final nine minutes of regulation or either of the two overtime periods.
 
- The Mountain Lions shut out Eckerd 2-0 and Southern Wesleyan 5-0 in its opening week. Seba Andreassen picked up a goal and assist in each game. Marco Micaletto also scored in both.
 
- With the pair of convincing opening-week victories, Young Harris jumped went from unranked all the way to No. 11 in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national poll.
 
- Alex Iglesias has started all three games in goal and has stopped 12 of 13 shots faced with two clean sheets. He began the year with a 201-minute shutout streak before Tusculum finally found the back of the net.
 
- Young Harris has averaged 20 shots per game and has put up 21 in back-to-back matches. However, only 35 percent have found their way on net.
 
- Saturday is Young Harris' first road game of the season. The Mountain Lions opened the year with three home games and play nine of 15 overall at home.
 
- The Mountain Lions have won the past three Peach Belt Conference tournaments and advanced to the NCAA tournament in two of those years. The team was not selected last year despite winning the conference tournament.

Head-to-Head

- Lincoln Memorial won last year's matchup at Young Harris 2-1. A third-minute goal gave the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead, but da Silva tied the game in the 15th minute and Peres put the Railsplitters ahead in the 21st minute.
 
- The teams' only other meetings came in 2010 and 2011. Lincoln Memorial won the lone matchup in Harrogate 2-0 in 2010. Young Harris returned the favor in 2011 with a 6-1 home win.
