CLEVELAND, Ohio – Former Lincoln Memorial University All-American forward
Emanuel Terry has signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was announced by Cavaliers General Manager Koby Altman on Thursday.
Terry joins the Cavaliers after a stint with the Denver Nuggets. The 6-9 forward made five appearances for the Nuggets during the 2018 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League, averaging 7.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game. He also appeared in one preseason game before being waived by Denver.
A 6-9 native of Enterprise, Ala., Terry joined the Railsplitters prior to the 2014-15 season and immediately propelled the LMU men's basketball program to historic heights.
During Terry's tenure, Lincoln Memorial went a combined 126-14 with four 30-win seasons, four South Atlantic Conference regular-season titles, two SAC tournament championships, four NCAA tournament bids, two Southeast Region titles and back-to-back trips to at least the national semifinals in 2016 and 2017. The Railsplitters were ranked No. 1 nationally at some point during all four seasons of Terry's career and hosted the Southeast Regional three times.
Over the course of 120 career appearances in the Blue and Gray, Terry ended up as the only player in program history with over 1,000 career points, 800 career rebounds and 200 career blocks. He averaged 9.6 points and 7.1 points per game for his career and finished as the program's all-time leader in career field-goal percentage and blocked shots.
Terry's senior season was one for the history books. In 2017-18, Terry averaged 16.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game to earn SAC Player of the Year, SAC Defensive Player of the Year, Southeast Region Player of the Year and consensus All-American status.
He was also presented with the Bevo Francis Award, which is given annually to the best player competing outside of the NCAA Division I ranks.
Terry's signing brings the Cavaliers' roster to 20 players. Cleveland's regular-season slate begins on Wednesday, October 17 at the Toronto Raptors.
