Quick Hits

- The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team is playing tremendous right now, winning in back-to-back matches — a 2-0 win at Mars Hill followed by a 3-0 victory over Wingate at home — to sit in third place in the South Atlantic Conference with a 3-1-1 record.

- Senior Caleb Cothrin's play in the net has led to a large portion of the Railsplitters' success. The stout goalkeeper, who was tabbed as the Astroturf SAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday, has shut out three of the four SAC opponents — the odd game out being a 2-2 tie versus Anderson —LMU has faced.

- Those efforts have Cothrin tied for the fourth-fewest goals allowed (11), the fifth-best save percentage (.725) and the fifth-lowest goals-against average (1.18) in the conference.

- The senior's teammates have then taken care of business against the opposing goalie. This week it was Alan Brandao and Felipe de Sousa, scoring their first and second goals, respectively, to propel the Railsplitters to their first win over Wingate since 2011.

- The third goal was an own goal scored by the Bulldogs, which solidified the fist time LMU had ever scored three times in the Wingate series.

- With de Sousa's goal, it puts him in second place among the team with seven points, which is just behind Victor Peres (10) and ahead of Miguel Reis' six points.

Know the Opponent

- North Georgia stumbled out to a 0-1-1 start before kicking it into high gear by winning the next three matches. The Nighthawks then lost the next two games, including their first conference matchup versus Flagler College in a overtime, 3-2, decision, but have regained ground.

- The Nighthawks bounced back in Peach Belt Conference play by defeating Clayton State and Francis Marion, 5-2, in both matches before traveling to Harrogate.

- The PBC squad has been paced by Adam Farrell's team-leading five goals and an assist for 11 points, along with Eren Ozer, who has four goals and two assists to sit a point behind his teammate.

- Gabriel Garcia and Prince Domafriyie have a team-high three assists apiece, while scoring three and two goals, respectively,

Head-to-Head

-  This non-conference partnership has been occurring since 2011, where the Railsplitters lost 1-2 in a neutral-site setting at Columbus State.

- Since then, LMU has won the next three matches, holding a 3-1 advantage and out-scoring the Nighthawks 9-3 through four meetings that came in 2013, 14 and 17.
